10th Street Project: Basement Reveal

The basement of our 10th Street Project is my favorite floor of the house! This space is as well-equipped as a separate home, and has a gym, bathroom with sauna, two huge storage closets, laundry area, living room, full kitchen, and full bedroom and bathroom. There is also a separate entrance to the back yard from the french doors in the living room, making this the perfect place for our clients' college-aged kids or guests to hang out.

The Basement Living Room

We knew this would be the place where older kids would hang out, watch movies, and chill with their friends, so it needed to feel super casual but fun and be able to accommodate larger groups. We made a custom sectional in the most beautiful blue performance fabric and paired it with a beautiful custom ottoman in a vegan leather for easy maintenance. The rug, pillows, and accent chair are made in more fun patterns to keep the space feeling modern and youthful. On the other side of the sectional, we have a beautiful custom pool table that has a top that can be added to use it as a dining table for eating or games. There is a bench nook with storage below next to the table for extra seating, and we used patterned fabrics there for added contrast and playfulness.

The Basement Kitchen

The kitchen is a full working kitchen, equipped with fridge, sink, and range! The inset cabinetry is very classic, which is in keeping with the rest of the house, but we added some fun touches and a bit of color to keep it young and fresh. The large work table as an island allows for entertaining and has plenty of space to prep and serve food. Over the sink, we installed wall-to-wall open shelves and brought in a ton of accessories to warm up the mostly-white the space and add interest. Behind the island, we broke up the cabinetry with a counter top and put a deep blue grasscloth in place of a backsplash.

The Basement Bedroom

Most of the bedrooms are located on the upper floor of the home, so this is really for overflow of guests, but of course we wanted it to be just as nice as the bedrooms upstairs. It was large enough for a king-sized bed, so we chose this caned bed with the cutest round nightstands in a faux linen finish. The dresser has an interesting wood finish and I love the blue patterned drapery on the French doors, which leads to the beautiful backyard space. The cute wooden accent chair in the corner for curling up and reading a book is the perfect balance of soft and hard accents.
